I have realised that there is nothing more important than seeing you now. It\u2019s only 80 metres from our trench to the Russians. And yet our existence here is more peaceful than ever. \u00a0If the noise doesn\u2019t bother you, that is. (Letter from Hans Scholl to his family, October 1942, at the Russian front.)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">In 1943 five students and a professor at the University of Munich were arrested, tried, and executed. They were members of The White Rose (\u2018Die Wei\u00dfe Rose\u2019), a clandestine group who wrote and distributed leaflets calling on Germans to resist Hitler.\u00a0Award-winning vocal ensemble SANSARA performs ancient and modern choral works alongside readings from the White Rose resistance group\u2019s letters and diaries. The majority of these texts have never appeared in English and speak movingly of courage and conscience. Evening Prayers<br \/>\nRudolf Mauersberger, Wie liegt die Stadt so w\u00fcst<br \/>\nArvo P\u00e4rt, Da pacem Domine<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">This event is a collaboration between the <a title=\"www.whiteroseproject.org \" href=\"http:\/\/www.whiteroseproject.org\/\">White Rose Project<\/a> and <a title=\"https:\/\/www.sansarachoir.com\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sansarachoir.com\/\">SANSARA<\/a> and forms part of the Humanities Cultural\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.torch.ox.ac.uk\/humanities-cultural-programme\">Programme<\/a>.
