The White Rose Project is delighted to have partnered with the Oxford German Network for the 2020 Oxford German Olympiad<\/a> nationwide competition!<\/p>\n

The deadline for all Round 2 tasks is\u00a012 noon, Friday 24th April 2020<\/strong>. The prizegiving ceremony will take place in Oxford in June, and winning entrants will be invited to attend with a guest. There are two White Rose Project competition tasks: one for VIth formers (or equivalent) and one for university students. Find out more below. The White Rose Project Writing Competition<\/u>
\nCompetition open to <\/b>pupils in years 12 and 13 (or equivalent)
\nPrize: <\/b>\u00a3100. The winning essay will also be featured on the White Rose Project website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Find out about the White Rose resistance group (die Wei\u00dfe Rose) and write an essay in German (max. 350 words):\u00a0\u201eWas k\u00f6nnen wir heute noch von der Wei\u00dfen Rose lernen?\u201c<\/b><\/p>\n

The White Rose Project Translation Competition<\/u>
\nCompetition open to <\/b>undergraduates (second year and above) and postgraduates of German studying at a British or Irish university.
\nPrize:<\/b> \u00a3100. The winning translation will also be featured on the White Rose Project website.<\/p>\n

Writing Resistance – \u2018Flugblattentwurf von Christoph Probst\u2019 (1943)<\/b>
\n(Please download the draft of the leaflet here<\/a>.)\u00a0Each submission should consist of two parts:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Produce a translation into English of the draft leaflet written by Christoph Probst in January 1943. Had it been completed and printed, it would have been the seventh leaflet produced by the White Rose group.<\/li>\n
  2. Write a commentary on the text (max. 400 words), in English or German,
    \nreferring both to the leaflet itself (its style and historical references) and your approach to translating it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
