They had been learning\u00a0<span style=\"text-align:justify;color:var(--color-text);\">about the White Rose resistance group and, having read <em>The White Rose: Reading, Writing, Resistance <\/em>(2019), they got in touch to discuss some of the questions they had about the resistance group and their legacy. They created a project\u00a0<\/span>for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhd.org\">National History Day<\/a>, an\u00a0annual project-based contest for students in grades 6-12.\u00a0The project has an annual theme. This year it is &#8216;Breaking Barriers in History&#8217;. One of the participants, Ashley, writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Our project is about how the White Rose group broke political barriers in history. Through our exhibit, we strive to communicate how the White Rose, by distributing a series of leaflets, broke political barriers in the 1940s. In our process of making this exhibit, we learned how the White Rose&#8217;s\u00a0efforts created an impact on Germany today. We aspire to share our learning through the use of quotes, interviews, and photos. Our perspectives had changed a lot during our process of making this exhibit. We hope that the White Rose&#8217;s\u00a0story can inspire youths and activists to speak up about what they believe in.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">We were delighted to be able to help out and very much enjoyed seeing a photograph of the final exhibition!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The White Rose Project was recently contacted by two 8th-grade students at the\u00a0Singapore American School.
